Announcing the release of Honouring Indigenous Women: Heart of Nations Vol.2 - please invite people to this 'event' to help spread the word...

As of Sunday November 25, this book will be available online at www.ipsmo.org as a 117-pg PDF document for viewing/downloading/printing.

This release date coincides with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

Earlier this year, following the success of Honouring Indigenous Women: Hearts of Nations Vol.1, the Indigenous Peoples’ Solidarity Movement Ottawa (IPSMO) launched its Honouring Indigenous Women Campaign and put out a call for submissions for volume 2. Through this initiative, the campaign organizers aim to re-centre our understanding of our society based on the experiences and perspectives of Indigenous women. They also aim to create a venue where Indigenous peoples can express themselves.

62 women and men from various nations contributed to this second volume. Indigenous women shared their lived experiences with regards to their relationships with the land, their birth mothers, families, communities and themselves. Their Indigenous and non-Indigenous allies shared their thoughts on responsibilities to (re)build relationships with Indigenous women.

On November 25, please visit www.ipsmo.org to receive this book.

Also note that we will be accepting donations to put towards the printing costs. We hope to have copies made in early 2013 to provide to all contributors, as well as to make available for individual purchases, in local libraries, community resource centers, and as part of school curriculum.

Donations can currently be made by cheque (online option will hopefully be available shortly). Cheques can be made payable to 'Indigenous Peoples Solidarity Movement Ottawa' with 'HIW-Vol.2' in the memo line, and mailed to: IPSMO, c/o OPIRG-Carleton, 326 Unicentre, Carleton University, 1125 Colonel By Drive, Ottawa, ON, K1S 5B6.

To help with distribution of this booklet, or for any other inquiries, please contact ipsmo@riseup.net
